Leopard Win56K PCI Driver Update Instructions
-------------------------------------------------------------
Driver Updates
--------------
You can get the latest drivers from Shark Multimedia's website at www.sharkmm.com.
Simply to the Download section and select the Leopard Win56K PCI and then find the latest driver on the page (check the dates) and then right-click on the file itself.
A pop-up menu will display several options, just choose the one that says "Save Target As"
Save the file anywhere you choose to on your hard drive, just remember where you put it. A good idea would be to put it with your other downloads, or even on your Windows desktop or Temp folder.
Once the file is downloaded, double-click on the file, this will bring up an unzip utility that will prompt you to extract the contents to c:\sharkmm. Go ahead and click on the "Unzip" button. Then close the unzip utility.
-Click Start.
-Click Run.
-Type "c:\sharkmm\uninstal.exe" in the box and click "OK."
-When the uninstall utility is finished, close it.
-Click Start, then Shutdown and then Restart.
When your system restarts, Windows will detect new hardware and will prompt you to install the drivers for it. At no time should the installation CD-ROM that came with the modem be placed in your CD-ROM drive during this process. If it is already
in your CD-ROM drive then remove it before proceeding further.
Windows 95 will search the floppy and then the CD-ROM drive for drivers and finding none, will then present you with an "Other Locations" button so that you can point Windows to the c:\sharkmm directory instead.
Windows 98 will allow you to enter a specific location (c:\sharkmm) without having to search first.
Once Windows finds the drivers it will continue with the installation, however it might not find the file "_inst32i.ex_", if this happens, simply click the OK button and it will find the file and continue with the installation of the drivers.
Be sure to have your Windows 95/98 installation CD handy as you may be prompted to get files from it.
Once Windows is finished installing the drivers click the "Finish" button and then Windows will automatically run the Motorola SM56 Setup to finish installation the software necessary in order to make the modem operational.
Once the entire process is complete, go ahead and restart your system again. The driver update is now finished.
